Since I’m apparently on a sequel/ franchise streak, this week’s new movie is going to be a chapter in a series. This sequel is not one that you have to see every single one to make sense of the plot, since that would literally take days. Up this week is the latest James Bond adventure: Skyfall.
The 23rd installment of the decade-spanning film series follows James Bond as he returns to work after being presumed dead after an assignment that turned sour. Bond resurfaces after a list containing the aliases of undercover MI6 agents starts being leaked; five names at a time. Bond’s mission leads to some discoveries about the past- both Bond’s and M's, his boss and mentor.

I’m also excited that Adele is going to be the pipes behind the theme song. I have always loved the theme song opening scenes, and I am a big Adele fan, so I’m eager to see how creative the producers get this go-around.
Since I am of the female gender, I can’t get through this post without making a statement about the Bond girls. Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace both provided some worthy, kick-butt, partners for Bond. Eva Green was cunning and beautiful as Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace may not have been as good as its predecessor, but Olga Kurylenko was as good as hers with her portrayal of revenge-driven Camille Montes. Hopefully Skyfall’s Bond girl, Naomie Harris can compete. Harris caught my attention in 2002’s zombie apocalypse flick 28 Days Later as survivalist Selena. 28 Days Later proved Harris can be convincing in a strong, do-what-it-takes, female character. Hopefully she bring some of those attributes to Skyfall.
As a Bond fan I’m hoping Skyfall lives up to the Bond Legacy. But, who knows, it could be that one movie that’s the blackspot in the franchise. You’ll have to read my next post to see if Craig lives up to the Bond name again, or if he drops the ball.
